Dorothee Liebscher: Between architecture and nature — painting as a poetic utopia
Dorothee Liebscher creates stunning pictorial worlds where architecture and nature merge. Her paintings transport viewers into a melancholy and beautiful parallel world that oscillates between memory and a vision of the future.
Born in Freiberg in 1987 and now based in Leipzig, this talented artist received her education at the renowned Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst (HGB) Leipzig under the guidance of the esteemed Prof. Annette Schröter.
With precise perspective and an unmistakable color aesthetic, Liebscher transforms abandoned buildings into surreal scenes that are truly a sight to behold. She masterfully leaves out human figures, making the viewer the star of the show. Her works pose thought-provoking existential questions: What remains when we leave? How does our environment transform?
Her works have been exhibited around the world, from Leipzig to New York CIty. Her monograph Hybrid Utopia (MMKoehn Verlag) documents her work. Her art is a treasure trove for collectors seeking works that are both aesthetically powerful and relevant.
Dorothee Liebscher's paintings are a breath of fresh air, capturing our yearning for spaces that transcend the ordinary and offering a moment of stillness in a world that's always changing. Her atmospheric pictorial worlds open up perspectives that invite us to linger, marvel, and reflect — art that lasts.
