Contemporary painting with depth and emotion from the Düsseldorf School of Painting.
Klara Landwehr (born in Haan, Rhineland, in 1987) is one of the most exciting voices in contemporary German painting. She trained at the renowned Düsseldorf Art Academy under Professor Eberhardt Havekost and Markus Lüpertz, combining classical painting techniques with a contemporary visual language.
As a representative of a new generation of the Düsseldorf School of Painting, Landwehr combines technical perfection with a sensitive, contemporary visual language. Her work continuously evolves from photorealistic compositions into multi-layered, emotionally charged visual worlds. In her oil paintings, Landwehr achieves a fascinating depth where technical virtuosity and conceptual clarity converge.
In her current works, Landwehr creates fascinating visual worlds based on analog and digital collages she has previously created. She assembles these from paper, cardboard, sketches, small objects, photographs, and AI-generated image components, like a personal collection of visual memories. From these elements, she develops landscape-like compositions, which she then transfers to oil on canvas. The results are minimalist, atmospherically dense paintings in which construction and intuition collide.
Her works are as expressive as they are timeless, inviting viewers to look deeper, decipher meanings, and develop their own narratives.
We are delighted to showcase Klara Landwehr's work at the E30 Gallery in Frankfurt.
We will publish available artworks in time for the Frankfurt Art Experience early September 2025.
