Nico Sawatzki: Paintings between memory, atmosphere and abstraction

Nico Sawatzki's works are atmospheric spaces of memory in which light, color and depth come together. Using his unique layering technique of acrylic and spray paint, he creates abstract landscapes that hover between reality and imagination. His works fascinate with an intense color palette, surprising changes of perspective and a special depth that immerses the viewer in an almost meditative pictorial world.

Born in Regensburg in 1984, Sawatzki began his artistic career with graffiti before turning to classical painting. He has been working as a freelance artist since 2012 and has established himself internationally through exhibitions and collections. His technique is based on a multi-layered treatment of the surface - layers of paint are applied, removed and superimposed again, creating an extraordinary spatiality. While earlier works were characterized by monochrome tones, today he focuses on bright colors and an exciting combination of abstraction and landscape.

Sawatzki's work is represented in renowned public and private collections, including the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen, the Collection of the Bezirk (District) Oberpfalz and the Thomas JC & Angelika Matzen Foundation. He has been awarded several art prizes, including the Art Prize of the Regensburg Cultural Foundation and the Bavarian Studio Grant Program.
