Philipp Liehr - Master of Subtle Movement
Philipp Liehr is one of Germany's leading contemporary wood sculptors. With impressive precision and artistic sensitivity, he transforms everyday moments into timeless figures. His works reveal the special in the inconspicuous - those quiet moments that shape our lives.
Liehr's sculptures tell stories without words. Through posture, gesture, and fine detail, he gives his figures an unmistakable presence. His craftsmanship, trained as a dental technician and comic book artist, is evident in the deceptively real structures of his works. Wood comes to life in his hands.
He captures moments that remind viewers of their own experiences and tell their own stories. He is also known for his astronauts and mini-heroes, reflecting dreams and hope combined with an element of playfulness.
Philipp Liehr has made a name for himself at prestigious art fairs and galleries. His work has been shown at ARTMUC, Kunst MITTE, Art Karlsruhe and the Affordable Art Fair in Hamburg and Amsterdam.
In addition to his own art, he promotes young talent as co-founder of Galerie Kubik, a platform for emerging artists.
