Raphael Paulun - The Silent Power of Painting
In a world that floods us with images every day, Raphael Paulun (1990, Cologne) creates quiet counter-worlds. His paintings are not loud statements. With a pictorial language that oscillates between Renaissance tradition and contemporary reduction, Paulun has established himself as one of the most remarkable voices in young German painting.
His mostly introspective self-portraits unfold an enormous depth in their quiet clarity. The viewer is not instructed, but invited to an open encounter with himself. Paulun's reduced color worlds, his confident composition and his sensitive handling of the materiality of oil paint turn his works into sensual spaces of experience that have a lasting effect.
Influenced by his studies at Alanus University in the class of Prof. Andreas Orosz, Paulun has developed a distinctive style that combines subtle observation with technical mastery. His attitude is clear: painting is not an effect, but an existential act - a way of understanding the world and the self.
Paulun's art is an invitation to see again - beyond the familiar. His work offers substance and timeless relevance, yet remains accessible and emotionally moving.
We look forward to showing his work at E30 Gallery in Frankfurt.
