Ich sehe was, was du nicht siehst
17 May - 21 July 2024
The phrase "I see something you don't see" is an allusion to what we recognise in the pictures based on our own experiences and emotions. It's also an invitation to look closely at our surroundings, which is reminiscent of childhood.
The title is also the name of one of Noah Kauertz's most recent works, whose multi-layered representational painting invites us to take a moment to pause and reflect. His work mostly features everyday objects, people and situations. The thing that ties it all together is how he plays with our perception and the complexity of our vision.
Nico Sawatzki's abstract works also engage with us directly, challenging our memory and prompting us to identify places of longing. The artist uses lines, colour surfaces and colour gradients in shades of red, blue and yellow made of acrylic glaze and spray paint to create an emotional pull through the reduction to the essentials.
